Each year, the senior classes in St. Cronan’s take part in the Bray Lions Club Peace Poster Competition. This year’s theme is ‘A Celebration of Peace’ and entries are due by Friday 14th October. More information on the link below.
To celebrate National Fitness Day today, we ran a class marathon. The 29 boys in our class each aimed to run 1.4km (or 7 laps of the pitch) to get to a total of 42km for a marathon distance.
We outdid ourselves, and ran a combined 59km in just 20 minutes. Click below to enlarge the photos.
Well done to Kyle who represented our class in the Cumann na mBunscol hurling blitz today in Bray Emmets. Our school team won all of their matches.
All of the boys have started learning the tin whistle. 10 minutes practice each evening will greatly help their progress. Below are some of the songs that they will be learning in the coming weeks and months.
Today, we met our 1st class buddies for the first time. We are paired with Ms McCulla’s class, and we helped them to get used to the computer room.

We took advantage of the big screen in the hall today and did a bit of Zumba! It was great fun!

Today we visited the home of the Irish Government in Leinster House.
We got a tour of the Dáil and the Seanad, and we met Minister Simon Harris, who answered some of our questions.
Two boys from our class had their artwork included in the 6 entries from our school in the Doodle for Google competition this year. Well done Sam and Nathan!

Today, we visited the Mermaid Arts Centre.
Storyteller Philip Byrne talked to us about stories from the factories of Bray in times gone by.

Today, we welcomed members of the Irish Army, who presented our school with the Irish Flag and a copy of the 1916 Proclamation. This is part of the centenary celebrations for the 1916 Rising.
Well done to all of the boys who took part in the Coughlin Cup competition this year!

Rugby training started today!
Our teacher Mr Ó Broin and one of the Dad’s from our class Keith will be dancing in Strictly St. Cronan’s on 14th November to raise money for our school.

Mr Ó Broin will be dancing with Ms Daly who is teaching 2nd class, and Keith will be dancing with Joan, who’s son was in Mr Ó Broin’s class a few years ago.
Today we said goodbye to Sergio who has been a part of our class for the last month. He is going back to his own school in Spain.
We looked at the architecture of our school building today, and tried to recreate parts of it artistically.
It was a great way to enjoy the good weather too!
Today, we were studying the media. Masthead, Headlines, Classifieds, Editorials …
We’ve started to learn the tin whistle in class and so far we’re sounding very good!

Our P.E. days until Hallowe’en will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The boys should wear their tracksuits on these days only and the school uniform every other day.

Huge congratulations to the boys from 6th Class who came 4th in the All Ireland Final of the Credit Union Quiz in the RDS Main Hall today.
Over 25,000 students entered the competition this year, and a 4th place finish is a simply amazing achievement !

Today, we took advantage of McDonalds giving away free breakfasts, as a treat for how well we performed in the Mermaid at last weekend’s concerts.
When we got back to class, we had a good discussion about healthy eating and eating fast food in moderation. Lots of the boys like to treat themselves from time to time, but on the whole we all agreed that our class are a healthy eating bunch!
